What is a Jesus School?
All Jesus Schools have seven shared attributes.
Teach the Truth
The entirety of God’s Word is truth (Psalm 119:160). A Jesus School values all lessons provided by the Scripture, without shortcuts or interpretations.
Focus on the eternal purpose
A Jesus School makes plain to its students the true purpose of life— to make God’s wisdom and the name of Jesus known. (Ephesians 3:9-12)
Transform character
A school that walks with Jesus builds students who are not conformed to the world, but transformed, and able to discern His will. (Romans 12:2)
Exude joy
He has made known to us the paths of life, that we would be full of His gladness (Acts 2:28). There will always be true, authentic joy found in a Jesus School.
Value relationships over tasks
Faithful work cannot be forgotten, but even with all the knowledge and high marks, if we do not have love, we are nothing. (1 Corinthians 13:2)
Engage the community
The Lord adds daily those who are being saved, when Christians step across the divide, break bread, and give to those in need. (Acts 2:45-47)
Involve the entire family and the local church
Too often is school seen as a separate part of a student’s growth. Jesus Schools are co-trainers in discipleship. (Proverbs 22:6)
And the commonalities pretty much stop there, because a Jesus School can look like many things.
Are all "Christian schools" Jesus Schools?
In short, no. By these standards, not all self-proclaimed Christian schools are Jesus Schools, and there are many Jesus Schools that would not normally be categorized as “Christian schools” (i.e. the public school classroom of a Christian teacher).
It is our conviction that Jesus-centered education is not merely secular education with a morning prayer, a weekly chapel, and some Bible verses on the wall. A Jesus School is a school that has been transformed by the presence of Jesus, and these attributes are simply the evidence.
